Description:

Practice Your Presentation Skills II is for individuals who have already participated in the Practice Your Presentation Skills I and wish to take this key skill to the next step.

The advanced skills development is achieved through a greater emphasis on practice and critique of realistic presentations that are relevant to the job, as well as the ability to watch oneself on video.

Each participant prepares a 15-20 min presentation relevant to her/his work or interests.

Flipcharts, whiteboard, or PowerPoint as visual aids are allowed.

To gain the most benefit from this workshop, presentations should have been practiced at least once (alone is OK) in order to check timing and ensure application of Level I skills and concepts.

To make efficient use of time, a facilitation technique is used whereby one participant will watch herself/himself on video while another is presenting. To facilitate this and other aspects of the program, each participant should bring:

  • Laptop computer with headphones
  • Any PowerPoint slides should be loaded on a memory stick
  • Any other audio-visual aids required for the presentation

Workshop Objective:

To develop the participants’ confidence in presenting a complete, short presentation to a group while using clear presentation structure and stories to illustrate and emphasize key points, and impactful opening and closes through onsite practice. Participants will receive expert and peer feedback as well as the opportunity to be videotaped for personal reference and feedback.

Learning Outcomes:

Through participating and completing this workshop, participants will:

  • Have the opportunity to apply learning from Presentation Skills: Level I
  • Possess a greater ability to persuade and motivate others
  • Be able to engage others through genuine authenticity
  • Overcome fear through practice
  • Receive valuable peer and expert feedback on their presentations and style
